DR250RS - Page 2

Plugs - Our bike came fitted with a Nipon Denso plug NDu27ESR-N
but we find these difficult to find so went for an NGK CR9E which
means a 10mm thread, resistor, heat range 9 and 19mm thread reach.

Caution - When removing this plug check that NO dirt is trapped down
the side, its a very tight fit and difficult to ensure clean. See picture.

Air Box - We have modified our air-box to allow more air to get to the
engine, see picture1 and picture2, however this then makes the bike run
VERY lean and you will need to increase main jet, lift needle and re-set
pilot system screw. This is how we faired on the Mikuni carbs set-up :-

Main Jet - up from #125 to #130 size
Needle - lifted one notch, now at fourth notch from top
Pilot Screw - On the Mikuni Pumper carb fitted, 2 1/4 turns out from fully screwed
in, this is a real pain & takes time. Originally set at 1 1/2 turns but kept stalling.

The bike runs very strong now and we will keep an eye on the plug colour
to gauge whether the carb settings are rich or lean, so far everything appears OK !

Oil - Currently using Castrol Superbike Fully Synthetic

Oil Filter - Same as DR350, using a Vesrah Pt No SF-3006 filter.

Brake Pads
These are basically the same as RM250 '96 onwards, so should be easy to get.
Front - DP Brakes Dunlopad DP321
Rear - TBA

We have more work planned and will bring you details as and when , however
